18th Century Table Spinning Wheel
Very fine bronze and turned wood table spinning wheel from the mid-18th century.
All the wooden parts are solid turned rosewood.
The wheel, adjusting screws, finger-winder, end turnings of the wooden parts and the green velvet-covered base ring are in gilt bronze.
Very fine workmanship of uncommon quality.
Louis XV period
Perfect condition.
A print by Balechou (1716-1764) shows a lady of quality spinning with a similar spinning wheel.
Underneath, trace of label certainly from a merchant supplier such as:
- Bavant "à la Belle fileuse", rue neuve St Roch.
- "Aux armes de Madame la Dauphine" rue de Charenton
