Jacques (1926-2008) and Dani Ruelland (1933-2010)

Jacques Ruelland graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in the late40s. In 1950, he and his wife Danielle made a stopover in Vallauris, which confirmed their desire to work in ceramics. They begantheir profession by improvising as ceramists in a Versailles cellar,They then moved to a workshop on rue de Buci. The Ruelland coupletrained in ceramics, Ruelland worked in terracotta, drawing inspirationfrom other arts such as painting and theater. Between the50s to the end of the 70s, Jacques and Danielle created a number ofof ceramic models, pitchers, bowls, goblets and vases, with himcreating the decor for the shapes she imagines. Their creationsmany bright colors: yellow, orange, ocean blue, coral redcoral red, bright green and black. In 1970, thethe couple moved to the south of France, to the commune of Les AnglesParis for good, but this didn't stop them from experimenting with newexperimenting with new ceramic processes and spreading the word about this material.material.
