Antique Japanese Satsuma Vase, Samurai On Horseback, Kyoto, Meiji Period
A finely decorated antique Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase from the Meiji period (circa 1880–1900), of elegant baluster form with a flared neck.
The vase is beautifully hand-painted with a dynamic scene of mounted samurai warriors in full armour, depicted in motion on horseback.
The base bears a red mark with the characters 京 (Kyo) and 都 (To), indicating Kyoto production, along with the letters “F C C,” which suggests it was a private commission made to order for a European customer.
Height: 37 cm
