Important 19th-century bronze bust of Melenas, King of Sparta, with black and gilded patina.
He is depicted with his chin raised, giving him a proud appearance; his hair is thick and curly; he is wearing a helmet decorated with numerous mythological figures (centaur, lioness....).
Highly meticulous execution with numerous details and a highly evocative expression of the character's personality.
The sculpture rests on a square gilded bronze base.
This bust was made after the antique, the marble original is kept in the Puckin Museum in Moscow.
