Large Bronze Sculpture By Détrier « the Big Sister »
Very beautiful, large bronze sculpture with shaded brown patina depicting a young woman tenderly holding a child in her arms, entitled "La Grande Sœur" (The Big Sister), a work by the sculptor Détrier, presented at the 1892 Salon.
.The composition, full of gentleness and naturalism, finely illustrates a moment of sisterly affection. The treatment of faces, drapery and attitudes testifies to true late 19th-century academic craftsmanship.
The sculpture is based on the work of a French sculptor.
The sculpture rests on an elegant cherry-red marble base, adorned with an engraved brass plaque mentioning the title and Salon presentation.
