Russia circa 1840. Cobalt blue glass goblet
Russia, St. Petersburg, Imperial Glass Manufactory, workshop of P.P. Semechkin and K.I. Terebenev, 1830s-1840s.
Transparent, mouth-blown cobalt glass; ground, cut, monochrome printed, gilded and silvered on reverse. Floral decoration on one side and pastoral scene with figures on the other.
Dimensions: height 8.3 cm, top diameter 7.4 cm.
Condition: very good, with no bumps or cracks. Traces of use.

The workshop of K.I. Terebenev and P.P. Semechkin was renowned for its high-quality lithographs, used to decorate glass, porcelain and earthenware objects. Subjects were varied: literary scenes, portraits, allegories, landscapes and reproductions of paintings.
