Writing Desk With Drawers In Louis XVI Style – Late 18th Century

Writing desk with drawers in Louis XVI style – Late 18th century (circa 1780-1790)Elegant rectangular writing desk in neoclassical Louis XVI taste, crafted in solid oak with a beautiful aged golden-brown patina.

The spacious rectangular top features subtly moulded edges and a time-worn surface that retains authentic character. The frieze is fitted with two generous front drawers with recessed panels and original (or period) brass handles. The sober, geometric lines typical of the style are highlighted by the straight, tapering turned legs, ending in truncated conical or spool feet with light fluting and a natural gilded finish from age.

The solid oak construction shows clear signs of period handcraftsmanship and rests upon an antique rug that enhances its warm tones. Perfect for a classical study or library setting, this desk combines neoclassical restraint, sturdiness, and refined elegance characteristic of late 18th-century Italian (or French-influenced) production.
