Born from the desire of the designer who, starting from 1949, wanted to create a light but resistant chair, he took inspiration from the Chiavarine chairs produced in Chiavari.
The Leggera is in fact the prototype of the Super Leggera chair produced as the definitive model in 1957 by Cassina.
However, the prototype was put into production by Cassina in 1951.
Gio Ponti is one of the most important Italian post-war architects, founder of the Domus magazine and of the Compasso D'oro award.
Artistic Director and Founder of some of the most important Italian furniture and design companies.
His furnishings are highly sought after throughout the world due to his genius and fame.
The chairs are made of ash wood.
The seat has been restored and both the padding and the real leather have been replaced.
In general, the chairs are in excellent conservative conditions, the wood has been repolished but shows light and normal signs of aging.
The chairs have a production date back to the 70s.
