A sterling silver mounted George II shagreen tea caddy with Rocco canistor and sugar basket, NJ silversmith, John Cafe, Edward Aldridge & John Stamper, London, 1754
A fine George II silver Rocco tea caddie and sugar basket by John Cafe, Edward Aldridge & John Stamper, dated 1754, housed in a silver mounted shagreen case. Bombé form canistor, on four shell feet, the sides and covers embossed with chinoiserie and rococo motifs and two vacant cartouches, each cover with seated tea drinker and bird and branch finial. Sterling silver sugar basket with floral motifs and noble coat of arms in the centre.
