Fall-front bureau with a majestic central projection, Lombardy, mid-18th century. Crafted in walnut and walnut burl, with ebonized moldings in various shapes (the sides differ from the central and upper sections). The interior features six drawers, the two central ones slightly recessed. The carcass and back panel are made of poplar. The upper part, known as the "priest’s hat", opens from the side extremity. The fall-front writing surface sits above a small drawer, separated by a protruding ebonized strip. The piece rests on curved, scroll-shaped supports.
