Charming pocket diptych sundial, French work from the second half of the 18th century, Louis XVI period.

This handsome scientific and time-measuring object takes the form of a folding wooden case, covered on the outside with gold paint. The interior reveals a richly decorated composition: a recessed compass, surrounded by printed paper indicating time and numerical markers, as well as a delicate decoration of floral motifs and polychrome garlands, typical of the Louis XVI aesthetic.

The set is complete with all the elements of a timepiece.
