Maurice Renders (1877-1951):
Maurice Renders was born in Paris to a father who was a porcelain painter; it is surely from this that his artistic vocation originated. He trained under Édouard Vimont and Jean Pascault, developing an early taste for figurative painting. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1901 and actively participated in the French artistic scene of the first half of the 20th century. His talent was recognized by numerous awards: a silver medal in 1925, a gold medal in 1931, and then a gold medal at the 1937 Universal Exposition. His work, rooted in the naturalist and figurative tradition, illustrates technical mastery and a particular sensitivity to everyday subjects and landscapes.
