Pierre Deroche and his successors were important merchants of apothecary jars throughout the 19th century. By 1780, he was already a faience merchant, but the Almanach du Commerce mentions him for the first time in Year X (1801/1802) as a porcelain merchant at the address 336 Rue Coquillière. In 1808, the business moved to number 12 on the same street. Pierre Deroche never owned a factory, but only a shop and likely a decorating workshop. He may have had various suppliers, but he seems to have regularly purchased his whites from Nast. Upon his death in 1811, his daughter Adélaïde, who had married her cousin Jean Pierre Deroche, succeeded him in partnership with her brother Henri Pierre. The Almanach du Commerce (Commerce Almanac) of 1815 lists a "large store selling porcelain, crystal, bottles, chemical vessels, and everything related to pharmacists and perfumers," under the business name "Deroche Frères" (Deroche Brothers). Henri Pierre died in 1816, but the business name was retained until 1818, when it became simply "Deroche." In 1830, Jean Pierre Deroche partnered with his son-in-law, Jean Baptiste Prosper Pochet, and the company was listed in the Almanac under the name "Poquet Deroche."
