Josep Coll Bardolet (1912-2007) - Dancers Island Of Majorca

Artist: Bardolet
Important mixed media work by Josep Coll Bardolet, a Majorcan artist. This work is large-format for an artist of his. Coll Bardolet's works are distinguished by their vibrant energy, and in this particular case, with its depiction of Majorcan customs, they testify not only to his vitality but also to his passion for Majorca and its traditions (he lived in Valldemossa from 1943 until his death in 2007). This work was created between 1980 and 2007, according to the Coll Bardolet Cultural Foundation of Valldemossa. During this period, he organized his first retrospective exhibition at the Llotja de Palma (1980), was declared an illustrious son of Valldemossa (1987), donated works to the Museu de Lluc, received the Gold Medal of the Balearic Islands, and was made a Knight of the Order of the Crown by the Royal House of Belgium. In 1988 he was named Honorary Cantor of the University of the Balearic Islands Choir and inaugurated the Coll Bardolet Art Gallery in Campdevánol, his hometown.
