Torque Necklace - Musée Saint-raymond Toulouse
The must-have!
Famous replica of one of the five torque necklaces discovered near Toulouse in 1841.
Made in 1970 by Maison Arthus Bertrand with a remarkable concern for quality this torque necklace is magnificent.
In its original box.
Weight 240g.
In Dominique Baudis' office, at the presentation of the torque (1) offered by Toulouse to her brilliant majesty, Queen Margrethe of Denmark had had that look so common to ladies at the sight of a beautiful object, and a fortiori, an object of adornment. Her sovereign gaze, so controlled, had suddenly lit up.
This bronze torque gilded with fine gold, a copy from the treasures of the Musée Saint-Raymond, this queen's necklace, is still a bargain.
In the 1970s, in fact, the curator at the time, Jacqueline Labrousse, had the bright idea of having Arthus-Bertrand produce facsimiles of these astonishing jewels: they are still among the souvenirs that can be purchased in the museum store.
The museum's store is open to the public.
