Late 17th Century Glass "onion" Bottle
A superb antique mouth-blown glass bottle, featuring an elegant pear shape with a strongly bulbous body and a long cylindrical neck. The glass, a very dark, almost black hue, is typical of winemaking produced between 1690 and 1720. The surface displays fine bubbles and irregularities, attesting to its handcrafted nature. The base bears a very clear pontil mark, characteristic of hand-blown pieces, confirming its age. The lip, simply formed while hot, is slightly irregular, without an added ring. At that time, wine was stored upright or served at the table. The wide base ensured excellent stability on tavern tables or ships' decks. An authentic object, both historical and decorative, ideal for a collector or enthusiast of antique glassware.
