Oil on cardboard depicting the portrait of an old peasant, by Henri Roche, a painter from Lamastre, born in Lamastre in 1900 and died in 1969.
Signed lower left.

Orphaned at the age of 14, Henri Roche went to Paris after completing his military service. He remained there for seven years, attending various painting academies.
Elected to the Société des Artistes Français and a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts, he returned to Lamastre in 1935.
He exhibited his works in Valence, Annonay, and Lyon.
His specialties were landscapes and portraits of elderly people.
Henri Roche was a member of the Société des Artistes Français and a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts.
He died in 1969, and a street in his hometown was named after him.
