Breton Folk Art, 20th Century. Bas-relief On A Wooden Panel: Procession Scene With Bombard.
20th-century Breton folk art: Bas-relief carved on a chestnut wood panel. Procession of three men, three women, and a young man playing the bombard. 44.5 x 65 cm, in a frame measuring 49.5 x 70.5 cm (the panel moves slightly within its frame). Horizontal cracks. The group is heading towards a house bearing a sign reading "God" and the inscription "Va Rat Heure" (perhaps a French phonetic transcription of the expression "Ton heure viendra" - Your time will come) on its pediment; the procession is awaited on the doorstep by a dog and a child holding a large leaf.
