Very Elegant and Fine Early 19th-Century Regency Rosewood & Brass Chiffonier

A particularly fine early 19th-century Regency period rosewood chiffonier, of elegant proportions and excellent quality throughout. The piece features a two door cabinet with secretaire drawer, surmounted by a refined mirrored superstructure with pierced brass galleried top, supported on turned rosewood columns. The lower section is constructed in richly figured solid rosewood and includes three short mahogany lined frieze drawers above a long secretaire drawer with a fitted interior, over a pair of brass grille doors enclosing a shelved interior. The doors are flanked by brass mounted rosewood columns and the whole stands on a plinth base. The chiffonier retains its original key and working locks. The rosewood has acquired a beautiful, mellow patina, enhancing the depth, warmth and natural figurative of the timber, a hallmark of the finest Regency cabinetmaking. Both sturdy and practical, the piece offers excellent storage while remaining highly decorative. Traditionally used for storing dinnerware, cutlery, bottles and linens, chiffoniers of this period are now greatly sought after for their balanced proportions, superb craftsmanship and sophisticated choice of materials. This Regency rosewood chiffonier is not only a testament to exceptional early 19th-century craftsmanship, but also a striking focal point for any interior that values history, quality and understated elegance, a functional yet highly decorative sideboard or dresser, ready to be enjoyed and used.
