Italian painter (18th century) - Saint Monica in prayer.

The painting depicts Saint Monica in Augustinian habit, caught in a moment of fervent prayer with her gaze and right hand raised toward the heavens. A second nun of the same order stands behind her with a discreet accompanying gesture. To the right, a young female devotee in prayer completes the composition. The dark background is enlivened by a classical architectural element and a red drapery on the left. The rendering of the faces and the fluid treatment of the draperies are consistent with the Italian painterly tradition of the second half of the 18th century.
