Pair Of Gilt Bronze And Polychrome Cloisonné Enamel Trays, Attributed To Alphonse Giroux
Pair of gilt bronze and polychrome cloisonné enamel trays, attributed to Alphonse Giroux – Napoleon III period, circa 1860–1870. A rare pair of oval trays, finely crafted in chased gilt bronze and decorated with a rich polychrome cloisonné enamel design. Each piece features sumptuous floral bouquets in vibrant colors, arranged on a delicately textured gilt background. The edges are adorned with arabesque motifs in turquoise, cobalt blue, and pastel tones, framed by openwork Rococo-inspired mounts with side handles. The quality of execution, the fine chasing, and the refined decoration, marked by Japonism, link these trays to the creations of the Maison Alphonse Giroux in Paris, renowned during the Second Empire for its luxury objects combining gilt bronze and exotic-inspired enamels. Both decorative and rare, these trays perfectly illustrate the eclectic taste and opulence characteristic of the Napoleon III era. Dimensions: Length: 35 cm; Width: 22 cm
