Biography:
Emile LAPORTE 1858/1907.

Sculptor, medalist, and painter born in Paris on November 18, 1858, died in the same city in 1907. French School. Emile Laporte was the son of Isidore Laporte and Marie Harlet.
A student of sculptors Gabriel-Jules Thomas, Augustin Dumont, Jean-Marie Bonnassieux, and Louis-Ernest Barrias at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes Français from [date missing].
In 1881, he received an award and became a member of the society of this salon in 1888. His last exhibition was in 1905. Laporte produced a large number of plaster works, some of which were published by the foundry Siot-Decauville.
He debuted at the Salon des Artistes Français. His bust of Parrache for the Lyon City Hall is a notable example. He received an honorable mention in 1883, a third medal in 1885, a travel grant in 1886, a second medal in 1897, and a silver medal in 1900 at the Universal Exhibition.
