Officer's Pistol Model 1816
A Model 1816 officer's pistol converted to percussion for military use.
The lockplate is signed "Mre Rle de Charleville" and stamped with the starred "T" within a lozenge of the controller Tisseron.
The barrel has been blued in a reddish-brown pattern reminiscent of the Model 1855 staff pistols. The round breechblock is fitted with a nipple. It is wedge-mounted. The white breech tang is unmarked.
The stock has a short fore-end of select light walnut. The grip is finely checkered. The side plate bears various numbers and proof marks. The lock screws are recessed in brass eyelets. All the furniture is red brass. The trigger guard is checkered.
The ramrod is made of whalebone with a brass tip.
This pistol, in good condition, has retained the beauty of the original weapon while also showing the passage of time. By the 1840s, flintlock weapons were obsolete.
