Highly detailed work, entirely hand-carved in dark exotic wood of Asian origin (China/Southeast Asia), with a traditional symbolic decoration blending fantastic animals, nature, and lucky charms. The carving is in deep relief, with numerous openwork sections, giving the piece great finesse and depth. The upper pediment is adorned with a central carved medallion surrounded by scrolls and foliage. The feet represent chimeras/guardian lions/mythological creatures, typical of Asian decorative furniture.
