Japan, Satsuma kilns, Meiji period (1868-1912). Important pair of baluster-shaped vases with flared necks, made of polychrome glazed earthenware and gold, decorated with samurai battles and dragons in relief coiled around the neck. Good overall condition, note that one of the vases was formerly mounted as a lamp and has a hole in the base, and there is a slight crack at the neck. Signed under the base. 29cm high, 12.5cm in diameter, 11.5cm at the neck opening.
