"fame" Biscuit Tin, Lithographed, 1906, Limited Christmas Edition
Artist: Huntley & Palmers
This "Fame" tin comes from the collection of biscuit tins produced for the 1906 Christmas catalog by Huntley and Palmers of Reading, England. It is remarkably intricately crafted, comprising 30 assembled pieces compared to the usual 3-5 for a typical tin, making it truly unique. It is in a classic Art Nouveau style and features an opening on each side with a sliding curtain system, similar to those found in American offices. For your information, Huntley and Palmers was a biscuit manufacturer far ahead of its time, offering highly elaborate presentation tins and worldwide mail order services as early as the 19th century.
