Enamel Backsplash By Charlotte Perriand, Résidence Les Trois Arcs, 1967-1968
Artist: Charlotte Perriand
Enamelled steel backsplash designed by Charlotte Perriand for the kitchens of the Résidence Les Trois Arcs at Arc 1800, created between 1967 and 1968.
This early phase of the Les Arcs development still followed a traditional built-in kitchen layout. Before the introduction of the standardized prefabricated kitchen modules later used in other projects within the resort, Perriand conceived a fixed arrangement combining a continuous worktop, suspended elements and a large colored backsplash. The red enamel panel structures the space visually while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance, fully aligned with her rational approach to mountain living.
