René Martin Pine Stool, 1960s Design

Artist: René Martin
Solid pine stool designed by René Martin, nicknamed "René the Scissors." A renowned cabinetmaker, he notably collaborated with Charlotte Perriand on the development of the ski resorts of Les Arcs and Méribel, in the heart of the French Alps. This stool is characterized by its four-legged base with log-shaped legs, supporting a thick circular seat. Its simple and functional design perfectly illustrates René Martin's craftsmanship as well as the modern elegance of the 1960s. Provenance: Méribel, circa 1965
