Jean Drevon's father was a farmer. A self-taught artist, Jean Drevon developed a passion for drawing and painting from childhood. He began painting at the age of 16, while also helping with farm work. This dual activity, which he pursued throughout his life, led critics to describe him as a "peasant painter" or a "farmer painter."
During his military service, he honed his skills under the tutelage of the Lyon painter Tony Tollet.
He was a member of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts and the Society of French Artists.
During his lifetime, he exhibited for several years at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Lyon.
In 1930, after being noticed at the Lyon Salon, his painting entitled "Under the Snow" was acquired by the French state.
In his honor, the Drevon Museum, located in the town garden of Saint-Jean-de-Bournay, was inaugurated in 1981.
