"southern Landscape" Oil On Cardboard By Henri Vignet

Oil on cardboard depicting a luminous southern landscape, with mountains under a  blue sky in the background, some houses  , the silhouettes of  two washerwomen by a stream,trees in the foreground. Signed H. Vignet, France, circa 1900-1920. Very good condition.
Henri Vignet (1857-1920) was a multi-talented artist: composer, musician, antique dealer, decorator, naturalist, illustrator, and renowned landscape painter. Henri Vignet was one of the founders of the Rouen School. He depicted street scenes of old Rouen and numerous Norman landscapes, the streets of Paris where he stayed for a time, the Jura Mountains, and the South of France, before settling in Nyons in the Drôme region where he spent his final years.
