The Medici Venus was discovered in Rome in the first half of the 16th century; a statue of exceptional beauty, it was purchased by Grand Duke Ferdinando de' Medici. The statue was initially placed in Rome at the Villa Medici and then moved to Florence about a century later to adorn the Tribuna degli Uffizi. Its beauty enchanted antique dealers, art lovers, and visitors on the Grand Tour for decades, so much so that Florentine workshops began producing copies, both full-length and bust-length, to meet demand.
Ours is a late 19th-century production and is a "desk" model, smaller in size but no less accurate.

Very good condition, unrestored.
