1960 Dunhill Lighter For Van Cleef & Arpels – Amourette, 18k Gold And Vermeil – Numbered
Artist: Dunhill Pour Van Cleef & Arpels
An elegant luxury lighter crafted by Dunhill for the prestigious jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels. This refined model features a body clad in snakewood, a precious wood with warm hues and a distinctive grain, framed by precious metal mounts. Some elements are made of 18-karat gold (750), while others are vermeil (gilded silver), as indicated by the presence of the combined gold/silver hallmark. The base is signed Van Cleef & Arpels and Dunhill, with the individually engraved number 122959, attesting to its high-quality production intended for the house's jewelry boutiques. This type of lighter was offered in the 1960s and 1970s as a luxury accessory for gentlemen, combining Dunhill's mechanical quality with the elegance and prestige of Van Cleef & Arpels. The lighter is in its original condition, with its original patina. Note a small crack in the snakewood veneer (easily repaired). The mechanism is currently jammed and will require servicing, which is common for this type of vintage lighter. A very beautiful collector's item, both decorative and emblematic of the craftsmanship of major luxury houses.
