Biscuit Porcelain Cachepot – 19th Century
Bisque Porcelain Cache-Pot – 19th Century
Elegant 19th-century white bisque porcelain cache-pot, conceived as a finely sculpted decorative group. The composition depicts a charming pastoral scene with a young woman leaning toward a child beside a rustic fountain, framed by an abundant arrangement of branches, foliage, and rocaille scrollwork.
The richly pierced structure and flowing vegetal ornamentation highlight the quality of the modeling, particularly in the delicate drapery, expressive figures, and naturalistic details. The unglazed bisque porcelain, intentionally left matte, enhances the sculptural precision and evokes the appearance of carved marble.
The underside bears a blue mark along with a serial number, suggesting a possible attribution to the Sèvres manufactory, subject to further expert examination.
Both decorative and functional, this cache-pot was intended to hold a small plant and reflects the romantic and naturalistic taste of the 19th century.
