Sévres Biscuit And Gilt Bronze Mount, Louis XVI Style, 19th Century
Sèvres Biscuit Mantel Garniture – Clock and Two Sculptural Groups – Louis XVI Style – Gilt Bronze – 19th Century
Fine quality biscuit porcelain mantel garniture in white, comprising a central clock flanked by two matching sculptural groups, forming a harmonious decorative ensemble.
The central clock features an elaborate biscuit composition with finely modelled putti arranged in a lively and elegant neoclassical scene. The dial is set within a finely chased gilt bronze mount, providing a refined contrast to the matte white porcelain. The sculptural decoration shows playful cherubs integrated into a dynamic rococo-inspired composition influenced by the Louis XVI style.
The two side pieces mirror the central theme, each depicting groups of putti engaged with baskets and symbolic attributes, executed with great delicacy and movement. All three pieces are raised on richly ornamented Louis XVI-style gilt bronze bases, decorated with garlands, friezes, and finely detailed mounts.
The ensemble is signed Sèvres, confirming the quality and prestige associated with this 19th-century production of fine biscuit porcelain in the tradition of French luxury decorative arts. Sèvres Manufacture and National Museum
