Eugène Verboeckhoven (1798–1881):
Portrait, landscape, and animal painter. He studied with his father, Barthélémy. He first became a skilled sculptor, then a painter, and his paintings achieved international renown during his lifetime.
Executed using the "badgering" technique, which gave the paint a smooth and velvety finish, his paintings were bathed in a golden light characteristic of his finest works.
His fame was international during his lifetime, and he received numerous awards in several countries. Primarily an animal painter, subjects like this "Backyard of a Dutch House" are less common.
This subject was more extensively explored by Peter Frans Noter II. His work is found in museums in New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Montreal, Munich, and elsewhere.

Peter Frans II Noter (1779-1842):
Painter, sculptor, draftsman, and engraver. Son of the architect Pierre François the Elder, he was a student of J.F. Van Geel. He primarily painted landscapes and cityscapes, highlighting the architectural achievements of Dutch houses.
His work is also featured in numerous museums, including those in Liège, Amsterdam, and Cologne.
