19th Century Carpenter's Adze In Forged Steel - Heritage Of Medieval War Axes
A very fine 19th-century carpenter's adze, a traditional forged tool for squaring timber. This asymmetrical blade, designed for right-handed use, features a unique bevel allowing for a perfectly flat cut, a technique inherited from medieval battle axes, of which this tool is a direct descendant. Superb period patina; the socket is robust and ready to be hafted or displayed. An authentic piece of folk art, steeped in history. Cutting edge height: 18cm. Weight: 1.15 kg (excluding base and display stand).
