Louis XIII Style Bench/sofa For A Castle (renaissance, Gothic, Neo-gothic)
Important, richly carved oak sofa from the 19th century. The back is surmounted by an elegant openwork pediment decorated with scrolls, foliage, and a central cartouche, typical of the historicist taste of the second half of the 19th century. The scrolled armrests rest on turned uprights with twisted columns, which are also repeated on the legs and stretcher, lending considerable character to the whole. The solid and well-proportioned oak frame has a beautiful patina. The seat and back are upholstered in a tapestry fabric with a floral and vegetal design, in a garden landscape style, perfectly suited to the style of the furniture. The upholstery is highlighted by decorative nailhead trim. A decorative and comfortable sofa, ideal for a living room, library, or period home. The fabric is in perfect condition.
