Auguste François Marie MARTIN (19th century) Portrait of a Young Schoolboy (1873) Pastel Signed and dated lower left "Martin / 73" 39 x 32 cm (48 x 42 cm with frame) Very beautiful gilt and chased wooden frame with floral motifs Very good condition A student of Jean-Louis Gérôme, Auguste François Marie Martin was from Saint-Brieuc (Côtes d'Armor). In 1877, he exhibited a pastel portrait at the Paris Salon, "The Portrait of 'Miss ***'." Our painting is a very fine portrait of a young officier in his uniform. It is dated 1873.
