Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) & Atelier Madoura - Fish Service Bowl – Vallauris – Circa 1950

A ceramic bowl from the famous fish service created by Pablo Picasso and produced at the Madoura workshop in Vallauris.

This piece features a stylized fish motif in the center, rendered in the free and graphic style characteristic of Picasso's ceramic work. The motif, with its spontaneous outlines and contrasting colors (black, brown, yellow, and red highlights), stands out against a finely crackled cream background. The rim is enlivened with broad touches of yellow, adding rhythm to the composition.

The design, remarkably fresh, perfectly illustrates the artist's Vallauris period, during which he explored the plastic possibilities of clay and glaze. The deliberately naive and expressive treatment of the fish recalls the Mediterranean themes dear to Picasso.

It bears the impressed Madoura mark, the Picasso Madoura monogram, and the Madoura mark.
The number F 3 is also present.

The glaze is glossy with a beautiful network of natural crackles.
Very good overall condition.
