Magnificent and large Art Nouveau solid silver pie server.
The spatula is decorated with vine leaves and bunches of grapes. The handle joins the blade in a vine motif against a background of architectural arches.
The partially gilded blade is engraved with a magnificent and expansive design of a vine bearing fruit.
The server is hallmarked:
Minerva 1st standard pre-1973 for 950/1000 silver
Maker's mark: JG with a vine for Jean Granvigne, active between 1878 and 1910.
Jean Granvigne was a renowned Parisian silversmith whose work was meticulous, innovative, and of impeccable quality. His work was so highly regarded that the famous Odiot often chose him as a subcontractor.
A superb server with a magnificent design. The blade is very wide, and its sharp lines contrast beautifully with the rounded shape of the vine depicted.
