Tea And Coffee Service With Its Silver-plated Metal Tray, Late 19th Century
This substantial tea and coffee service comprises a coffee pot, a teapot, a covered sugar bowl, and a milk jug, presented on a matching rectangular tray with side handles.
The pieces feature elegantly structured baluster shapes resting on molded bases. The decoration is highlighted by a continuous frieze of finely chased laurel leaves, borrowed from the Neoclassical style widely popular at the end of the 19th century.
The angular, stepped handles, architecturally designed spouts, and turned lid finials reflect the quality of high-end industrial silversmithing. The tray, with its molded edge adorned with the same laurel motif, lends the set a remarkable aesthetic unity and a handsome presence.
The set comprises:
- a teapot --> H 25 cm;
- a coffee pot --> H 22.5 cm;
- a sugar bowl --> H 17 cm;
- a milk jug --> H 13 cm;
- a tray --> W 46.5 x L 31.5 cm.
Good condition with slight signs of wear consistent with age and use (see photographs). Note: a screw is missing from the coffee pot lid and has been replaced with a metal rod.
