Model 1842 Naval Pistol
The Model 1842 naval pistol corrects several flaws found in the Model 1837, notably the fragility of certain parts and the reliability of the primer. Compared to its predecessor, the nipple has been reinforced, the hammer is unique, the barrel features sights (rear and front sights) and has been modified at the breech, and the mechanism has been strengthened. In short, it is more robust. The rear plate is engraved "Mre Rle de Chatellerault" and stamped with the starred "D" of Dombret. The barrel is octagonal, then round, 15.2 mm caliber, smoothbore, with sights. It is stamped on the right side with a starred "F". The breech tang is engraved "Mle 1842". The ramrod is hinged. The Dombret stamp is found on all the furniture. The stock is varnished walnut with a belt hook. This example is in very good original condition and displays remarkably fresh markings and engravings. He was never touched.
