Child's Oriental-style Sword, With Sheath
ORIENTAL CHILDREN'S SABER WITH SHEATH
France, 19th century
Steel, brass, mother-of-pearl
Overall length: 67.5 cm – Length of saber: 57 cm – Length of blade: 45 cm
Curved blade with one cutting edge and a short counter-cutting edge; flat back.
Crooked handle with lion's head pommel. Guard with two straight quillons ending in balls and two lugs decorated with a flower. Mother-of-pearl inlays; chain guard branch.
Brass scabbard, engraved with friezes and scrollwork foliage. Lyre quillon. Two ring loops.
Very good condition.
