"memento Mori" Flame Dagger, Circa 1850–1880.
Wavy, flame-shaped blade decorated with longitudinal gold bands; between these, in the central field and extending to the tip, an engraved scale pattern imitating animal skin. On the ricasso, a skull with crossed tibias is depicted on one side, and on the other, a winged figure of Death holding a scythe—iconography typical of the Romantic memento mori repertoire. Black ebony hilt with a metal ferrule. Straight iron guard with spherical ends. Length 26 cm, blade 15.5 cm.
