Pair of Napoleon III Covered Vases in Black-Ground Porcelain and Gilt Bronze – 50 cm. An important pair of covered vases in black-ground porcelain, richly decorated with scenes of putti, flowers, and birds, mounted in their original, finely chased and gilt bronze. Parisian work from the Napoleon III period, circa 1860-1880. The bronze mounts exhibit fine chasing: handles decorated with mascarons, claw feet, ornate bases, and lids with pinecone finials. The decoration is hand-painted with great finesse. In very good overall condition, with a beautiful patina on the bronze and the original gilding preserved.
