"Landscape By Antoine Ferrari"
Antoine Ferrari settled in Paris in 1927 and frequented the painters of Montparnasse. Encouraged by Kees van Dongen, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne that year. In 1930, he received a grant from the City of Marseille enabling him to attend classes at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He won the Stanislas Torrents Prize in 1932. He met the painters Pierre Ambrogiani and Antoine Serra, who remained his friends throughout his life. His first exhibition took place at the Alexis Jouvène gallery in 1933. Antoine Ferrari collaborated closely with André Maurice, who exhibited him regularly in his gallery from 1948 to 1950. He exhibited at the Da Silva gallery in 1950 and won the Ricard Foundation prize in 1951. He exhibited at the Galibert gallery and then the Merenciano gallery in 1953 and 1954. Our work is signed in the lower right corner and is presented in a wide-rimmed lacquered frame (a frame requested by the painting's first owner).
