Its dynamic architecture is covered with magnificent Boulle marquetry: finely cut gilt brass with symmetrical scrollwork, vegetal tendrils, palmettes, and acanthus leaves, superimposed in tortoiseshell.
The whole is richly adorned with chased gilt bronze mounts: scrolls, arabesques, a sun mask, shells, acanthus leaves, and finials on the uprights, base, and top. Finely sculpted, cabriole feet ensure stability and elegance.
The chased bronze dial is set with twelve enamel cartouches on white enamel and protected by a domed glass.
The original movement is unaltered and strikes the hours and half-hours on an antique bell.
The marquetry has been polished with a French polish, providing contrast, brilliance, and protection.
