Creation resulting from the French religious craft of the 19th century, this devotional statue represents the crowned Virgin Mary, arms outstretched, open, protecting young children representing believers. These statues of devotions were sold by the parishioners to provide for the church, for the pilgrims visiting.
She symbolizes the merciful Virgin who welcomes the members of the faith to join her in her purity and obedience to the faith. This representation is that of 'Our Lady of Good Help', referring to the famous figure of the Virgin Mary and her human nature, popular in holy & orthodox iconography of the 14th century.
The beauty of this craft is found in a miniaturized and qualitative version of the Virgin crowned by the heavens welcoming believers, very realistic and full of details. The most spectacular being the pedestal where it is located, in the flamboyant neo-Gothic style, mixing square and circular geometry, with intersecting arches. Attention, one of the feet is broken, everything remains stable.
