"Reliquary Bust Of Saint Boniface - 18th Century "
Carved in the round and gilded, the bust of Saint Boniface rests on a rococo tripod base which houses a relic of our holy man at its center. He is depicted here as a bishop preaching the Good Word, his hand outstretched in a gesture of blessing or teaching. It is not possible to determine the nature of the relic as it is hidden by the document. A seal may be present but is not visible. Saint Boniface of Mainz was born around 675 and died a martyr on June 5, 754.
He is the patron saint of Germany. A fine piece of 18th-century northern Italian work.
