"Japanese-style Tray In Gilt Bronze And Enamel Plaque, Monogrammed “jb” And Dated “june 1, 1876”"
A rectangular Japanese-style tray resting on four small feet, with a richly openwork gilt-bronze mount. The frame is adorned with a cut-out gallery decorated with scrolls and motifs of Far Eastern inspiration, with openwork side handles in the Chinese style and an engraved frieze running along the edges. The base consists of a polychrome enameled decorative plaque depicting a bouquet of flowers in a porcelain-type vase, on a blue background scattered with stylized motifs, framed by a red field with a geometric design. The tray is monogrammed “JB” on the upper edge and dated “June 1, 1876” on the lower edge (engraved inscriptions). A piece from the second half of the 19th century, typical of the Japanese style in France. Wear and patina to the bronze, some marks/traces of age visible on the enameled surface.
